New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party President Shri Amit Shah today congratulated the central government on launch of ‘Digital India’ programme to connect every nook and corner of the country. Shri Shah expressed confidence that the dedicated plan for technological revolution will usher in holistic development for all citizens and strengthen the nation.
Commenting on the government’s elaborate plan to lay information highways in the country, Shri Shah said, “I applaud Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi’s vision to connect all gram panchayats by broadband internet, promote e-governance and transform India into a digital economy. This digital transformation will also empower our countrymen, help them to aspire, augment their skills and allow them to achieve their full potential.”
Shri Shah further said, “A wide array of public services will now be available at the click of a button and all transactions can be conducted in a transparent manner. The time taken for documentation process will also come down sharply.”
Under Digital India, many online portals and applications have already been launched and more will be launched soon to provide easier access to public services. The government also aims to connect all 2.5 Lakh Panchayats with Broadband connectivity under the Bharat Net programme, thereby making it the world’s largest rural broadband programme. Among other measures, Wi-Fi would be provided in all government schools, data related to agriculture will be digitized to provide real time information to farmers through SMS and/or mobile application, and Digital Locker Facility will allow Citizens to upload government issued identity documents and certificates online. This will do away with the hassle of carrying photocopies and originals of documents while visiting government offices.
