Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurates CII Enterprise Odisha 2014 in Bhubaneswar. This year’s theme would be “Accelerating Odisha’s Growth : Promoting Entrepreneurship- Enhancing Employability”.
CII in association with Government of Odisha, in its endeavour to provide an industrial focus and showcase the exemplary achievement of the State, has decided to hold Enterprise Odisha 2014 for the 19th time this year from the 26-30 November 2014, Exhibition Ground, Bhubaneswar. It is the largest Industrial and sector specific fair in the State.
Inaugurating the exhibition CM Patnaik said that, “I am delighted to be here today to inaugurate the 19th Edition of Enterprise Odisha. I congratulate the Confederation of Indian Industries for keeping faith in the State’s potential in driving growth and development as well as its inherent economic strengths to lead. This years’ theme “Accelerating Odisha’s Growth: Promoting Entrepreneurship, Enhancing Employability” is complementary to State Government’s emphasis on ushering in an inclusive development.”
CM Patnaik said that, “Odisha’s GDP grew at a robust pace over past few years, reflecting a turning point in its growth story. Growth in both the industries and services sectors has been instrumental in the recent improvement in the state’s economic growth. The emphasis of the state government on leveraging its abundant mineral and other resources and promoting maximum value addition to create employment opportunities within the state will continue to be an important growth driver.”
CM Patnaik said that, “Odisha has made sweeping growth in all sectors. The State has attracted investments of over 200 billion US dollar during the last decade. A majority of these investments have gone into the manufacturing sector. The overall growth in the last decade for major sectors like Power, Alumina, Steel, IT Exports in state has ranged between 400 to 1200 percent.”
“Significant investments in the metals industry in the past few years augur well for the state’s manufacturing sector. Odisha has about 10 percent of the total steel production and 50 percent of the total aluminum production capacity of the country, “ he further added.
Patnaik further added that, “Government has already set in motion initiatives to set up a dedicated Aluminum Park, a second Plastic Park and is in advanced stage of finalizing the detailed plans for setting up the Petrol, Chemicals and Petrochemical Investment Region. Our government has also approached the central government to declare the existing industrial region at Kalinga Nagar as National Investment Manufacturing Zone. To encourage local value addition and to broad base the industrial portfolio, the State Government is actively pursuing measures to promote Food Processing industries, Tourism, Ancillary and Downstream industries based on steel as well as aluminum. Significant focus has also been provided to the IT, ITES &ESDM sector of the State. Over 215 acres of land have been dedicated to Info valley under EMC scheme of Government of India for setting up an ESDM cluster. With such a rich and diversified industrial base, huge entrepreneurship and employment opportunities can be generated in Odisha.”
CM Patnaik said that, “To sustain Odisha’s industrial growth momentum, the State Government is in the process of finalizing IPR 2014, SEZ Policy, Special Investment Region Act, etc. The state has recently framed some key sectoral policies like ICT, Tourism, and Food Processing etc. .”
He said that, “Enterprise Odisha of CII is a commendable initiative and it has played a successful role in initiating an informed debate on Odisha’s industrial growth path. I hope that the CII will continue its proactive engagement with all key stakeholders of the State in sustaining the current phase of industrialization and promoting Odisha as a preferred destination among prospective investors.”
