Report by Prachee Naik, Bhubaneswar: Global Initiative for Restructuring Environment & Management (GIREM) announced signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) to showcase the potential of Bhubaneswar and create a favorable image among the investor community, as one of the most preferred business destinations in India. Dr. Pitabasa Sahoo, Member, Town & Regional Planning, BDA signed the MoU on behalf of BDA while the Mr. Shyam Sundar S Pani, President, GIREM signed on behalf of GIREM.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Mr. Debi Prasad Mishra, Minister Housing & Urban Development, Govt. Of Odisha, Mr. Injeti Srinivas, Development Commissioner & Additional Chief Secretary, Govt. Of Odisha & Chairman BDA, Mr Vishal K. Dev, Vice Chairman, Bhubaneswar Development Authority & Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Mishra, Commissioner, BMC.
Vision: “To attract investments, build a strong & vibrant economy, create great employment opportunities and raise income of all sections through skill up-gradation so as to improve the quality of life of the people of Bhubaneswar.”
Objective: To promote city of Bhubaneswar as one of the most preferred Business Destinations and to prepare a consensus-based visionary development strategy for the future of Bhubaneswar.
Goal: To create eco-socio economic infrastructure and make the city attractive for investments. Salient Features of the MoU 1. Identifying and creating eco-socio-economic hubs in Bhubaneswar for creating economic and social activity
2. Designing integrated township ‘South City’ in Bhubaneswar 3. Developing Future Economic zone on the stretch between Cuttack and Bhubaneswar City
4. Promoting & Marketing of the hubs and city as a whole.
5. Create 100,000 IT [direct] jobs and 5 lakhs indirect & induced jobs in Bhubaneswar in general & the new township in particular.
“This MoU is based on the mutual desire to promote Bhubaneswar by creating a sustainable business eco-systems and social infrastructure through private sector participation. We strongly believe that the city can host a diverse and dynamic range of businesses and that is one of the main reasons that will help the city facilitate great investments.
The MoU also aims to derive the fullest benefit of the changing economic environment to create 100,000 IT Jobs in the next 7 years”, said Mr. Shyam Sundar S Pani, President – GIREM.
