Sambalpur: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, awarded Rs one lakh each to the women hockey players of Odisha who brought bronze medal for India in Junior Women Hockey World Cup 2013 held at Germany.
Ms Nomita Toppo, Ms Nilima Minz and Ms Anupa Barla & Ms Deepa Grace Ekka in absentia, the members of Team India that won bronze in Junior Women Hockey World Cup held at Germany, were felicitated at MCL headquarters here by the Chariman-cum-Managing Director Mr A N Sahay and Director Technical ( Project & Planning) Sri J.P.Singh.
Congratulating the players, Mr Sahay said their achievements are a result of the hard work they have put in during practice and hoped that they would bring more laurels to the country as well as to their home state.
Mr Sahay presented the award of Rs one lakh each to the players in the presence of General Manager from all the fields as well as company headquarters.
Expressing their gratitude, the players thanked Mahandi Coalfields for encouraging and supporting the sports fraternity.
Earlier MCL had promoted wind surfer Manaswini Maharana & A. Mahesh Rao by providing their surfing equipments, Chess player and u/10 World Champion Saina Salonika by sponsoring her training& trip to UAE and to Sprinter Amiya Mallick by part sponsoring his training at Jamaica.
CMD, Sri A.N.Sahay wished the players the very best for the upcoming Asian Games in September 2014 in South Korea for which they leave for training / selection to Patiala on the 13th of August.
