New Delhi: NTPC , the largest power company of India has been ranked 424 among the world’s 2000 largest and most powerful public companies.
The Forbes ‘Global 2000’ is a comprehensive list of the world’s largest, most powerful public companies, as measured by revenues, profits, assets and market value. With an installed capacity of 43039 MW through 16 coal based, 7 gas based, 7 solar renewable and 7 Joint Venture power stations, NTPC contributes approx. 28 percent of electricity in the country, with about 19 percent of India’s installed capacity.
NTPC has been playing a major role in meeting the power needs of the country and contributing to its economic and social development. The company has been conferred with coveted “Maharatna” status by the government for its outstanding achievements over the years. NTPC has a vision to be the world’s largest and best power producer, powering India’s growth.
Other Indian companies in the list from the power sector are BHEL and Powergrid.
