Gopalpur: In order to upkeep the survival of mothers and children in our state as a human rights imperative and a critical development priority, Tata Steel in coordination with TSRDS, organised a Safe Motherhood Camp along with a Healthy Baby Show at Sitallapali village of Luhajhar GP adjacent to its Gopalpur project. More than 50 mothers with their children within 2 years age group enthusiastically participated in the program. This mother and child wellness event titled as project ‘Astha’ was to create awareness among the parents to be attentive towards required post natal care, regular immunizations, cleanliness, and required nutrition for the infants. The winners were selected by a team comprising of DrMadhusudan Panda and other members of TSRDS on the basis child’s height, weight, immunization status, appropriate breast-feeding and weaning period, adoption of family planning methods by the parents and awareness level among the mothers regarding post natal care which was done through a quiz competition. SoniPatra, daughter of Ms SantoshiPatra; PrashantaPradhan, son of Ms ReenaPradhan and Kuna Moharana, son of Ms JhunuMoharana were adjudged as the best healthy babies in the show.While mothers of healthy babies received awards from the dignitaries, all the participants were counselled to have incessant thrust on regular immunisation, cleanliness and nutrition.
