Gopalpur: Furthering its incessant endeavour in strengthening the global community to fight a devastating pandemic like HIV and renew the commitment for AIDS-free generation, industry major Tata Steel observed World Aids Day at Narendrapur village under Luhajhar gram panchayat adjacent to its Gopalpur project. To mark the occasion More than 100 students of KM Science College participated in the awareness rally disseminating messages on this year’s theme ‘Shared Responsibility: Strengthening Results for an AIDS-Free Generation’.
The observance included a debate competition among college students and an interactive session coordinated by Tata Steel’s Rural Development Society at Sitalapalli Village. The objective of the session was to augment the awareness level of adolescent girls residing in the peripheral villages of Gopalpur project. Dr Madhusudan Panda of TSRDS deliberated upon various themes pertinent to social and preventive aspects of AIDS for enabling the prospective mothers with the armour of knowledge for combating the spread of HIV.The programme concluded with awarding the winners of debate competition and a cultural event staged by the trainees of ‘Samarth’ Skill Building Centre promoted by Tata Steel.
