Tata Steel organises Training for Women SHGs

shgGopalpur: With an objective to pace up the empowerment of women with gaining greater control over material and intellectual resources like knowledge and information, industry leader Tata Steel has pioneered a well-articulated capacity building intervention on skill improvement, accounts keeping and supervision of credit for ensuring economic viability of women members of SHGs. The three day training schedule covering 50 women members of 17 SHGs from 11 peripheral villages of Tata Steel’s Gopalpur Project was inaugurated at Bhagat Singh Library, Chamakhandi. Mr Sukanta Panda and Ms Dipti Rani Kar from State Institute Rural Development (SIRD), Bhubaneswar conducted the technical sessions for this training programme and imparted valuable knowledge on various financial intermediations including prioritization of needs, setting terms and conditions and accounts keeping. The objective of the training programme was to build financial discipline in all the participants and to train them to handle resources of a size that is much beyond their individual capacities thus enabling them to be self-sufficient in all business related affairs.
