Berhampur: In tune with its commitment towards addressing health issues of communities in periphery villages of its operations, Tata Steel organized a one-day Free Mega Health Camp, in association with Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS) and District Health Department of Ganjam at ME School, Sindhigaon village under Luhajhar Panchayat.
More than 350 patients from Sindhigaon and surrounding villages availed health services at the day long Health Camp where free medicines were also provided along with consultation by specialist doctors from Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatric and Skin & VD disciplines. Apart from these, a specialized Eye Camp along with HIV testing was also organized as part of the mega health camp.
Starting at 9.00 am, there was a beeline of people to the health camp where thorough medical examination of the patients was done by the team of doctors and free medicines and several blood tests as per doctor’s prescription were provided free of cost. Many senior citizens, children, women and physically challenged villagers came to seek medical assistance and free check-up.
8 specialist doctors from TSRDS, MKCG hospital and Tata Main Hospital, Jamshedpur attended the camp and provided consultation to the patients.
Among others present in the Mega Health camp were members of Tata Colony Village Committee and officials of Tata Steel and TSRDS. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. L. Keshab Patra, Sarpanch, Luhajhar panchayat praised Tata Steel for regularly organizing such health camps in and around Gopalpur benefitting thousands of local people residing in remote areas by providing specialized healthcare at their doorstep.
