J N Tata Technical Education Centre, Gopalpur hostel as now is vacant because of Puja holiday is being used as relief camp for the people of villages in and around Gopalpur by Tata Relief Committee. This camp is designed to provide shelter to 1000 people with food facility for 3 days.
Tata Relief Committee also arranged medicine facility along with doctors in this camp. Tata Relief Committee today shifted 200 villagers from 3 peripheral villages named Badaputi, Paikapada and Paikapada. Tata Relief Committee geared up to shift more people from nearby village.
It may be noted that Phailin said to be the strongest cyclonic storm to hit Odisha in 14 years, is set to make a landfall this evening near Gopalpur. The cyclone, which is moving at a speed of 15kmph is expected to hit the coast near Gopalpur from 6 to 8pm today and is likely to stay for six hours before moving ahead.
